SCULPTURE PARK SUBMISSION – CALL FOR PROPOSALS/SUBMISSIONS 2016/17

Artists are invited to submit works and/or proposals for the 2016/17 exhibition at Wharepuke Sculpture Park in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, NZ.

Accepted works will be installed within the 2 hectares of the award winning Wharepuke Subtropical Garden (NZGT Garden of Significance) along an approximately 1 km sculpture trail.

WORKS

We are seeking proposals for works in any medium reflecting contemporary sculptural practice and suitable for outdoor display.

This could be sculpture, installation, sound, 2D etc. The works have to survive outside, open to the elements, for the duration of the exhibition (October 2016 to July 2017) or could be designed as ephemeral projects (if so please detail this on application form). If for sale the works must have longevity for the buyer.

 JOHN EDGAR – 2016/17 JUDGE

New Zealand sculptor John Edgar will judge the works in situ and a cash prize of $2000 will be awarded to the winning artist.

John is one of New Zealand’s best know sculptors and was Honoured as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2009.  His work Font was included in the 2015/16 show and will remain for the 2016/17 trail.

SELECTED ARTISTS RECEIVE:

  • 10 month exhibition in unique subtropical garden environment
  • Full colour catalogue
  • Family season pass for unlimited entry to the sculpture park for the 2016/17 season
  • Discounted accommodation rates at Wharepuke ($100 per cottage (2 people), per night between May and 20th November- contact us for possible discounted rates at other times)
  • Exposure on Wharepuke Art Park web site, individual artist’s page (optimised to artists name) including link to own site
SCULPTURE PARK SUBMISSION – APPLICATION DETAILS:

Please send your submission/proposal on-line (preferred) or by post using  one of the application forms below (Word or PDF).

  • There is no limit on the number of proposals – please use a separate form for each one
  • Collaborative/group proposals welcome
  • No entry fees for application
  • If works are for sale 40% commission (inc. GST) will be charged
  • Artists are responsible for delivery or freighting of works and removal of unsold works.  Accepted artists are welcome to deliver and install their work in collaboration with Wharepuke
  • Artists are responsible for insurance of their works in transit and while on-site
  • If sold buyers can remove the work and artists will be invited to propose a replacement work. Buyers are responsible for removal of sold works which can be done in consultation with the artist and/or Wharepuke if necessary
